Dear Elected Official:

I am writing to you to support House Resolution 1542, which prohibits the FCC and state public utilities commissions from regulating rates, charges, terms or conditions for, or entry into the provision of any high speed data service or Internet access services.

The telecommunications industry is currently in a state of crisis due to the economic downturn. The advancement and expansion of state-of-the-art communications systems will only be further hampered by additional government intervention and regulation.

The implementation of high-speed telecommunication services will provide advanced communications systems that will benefit such program as Out-reach educational services to rural and remote areas, particularly throughout the western part of the U.S.. This region is in desperate need of advanced broadband capabilities due to geographical difficulties in building communications systems and the demand for service due to vast population growth and expansion.

Regulatory fees imposed on telecommunication companies seeking to provide high-speed services and Internet access are passed on to customers. These fees will increase consumer monthly access fees, deter usage and ultimately, slow the growth of build-out of communication systems. The goal of government should be to support and assist the telecommunications industry as much as possible to expand network capabilities and encourage usage - not create barriers to success.

I want access to rapid, reliable high-speed service and Internet access without an increase in fees imposed by state and federal regulators. I believe it is critical to the success of the telecommunications industry that you ensure that this objective is met. Please acknowledge this message, and please let me know your position on this very important matter. This is very important to me and to many of your constituents.
